The Palmerie
So … we take this bus ride out to some palm trees. We have no idea
what to expect. But upon arrival we know it’s going to be amazing.
There are a dozen berbers on horses with their guns lining the red
carpet — which is lit with dozens of moroccan lamps — leading us into
a little square where they had arranged …
basically anything Moroccan that you could imagine. A number of vendors
sat and sold their wares. (By the way, I haven’t bought ANYTHING this
trip, so don’t be expecting any gifts when I get home) … then there
were the monkeys … the fire breathers … snake charmers … an open
bar … dancers … singers … musicians … acrobats … you name it.
All in all there were nearly 600 (!!!) people there to entertain and
feed us … a group of no more than 280 people. 600 people working for
280!! Can you imagine?
Dinner was served under huge tents with bonfires in the center of the
“courtyard” the tents made … and the night went on. I, unfortunately,
am dead tired and still a good 24-hours behind on what we’ve been
doing. But you get the idea. And I’m about to post new pictures in a
few minutes, too …
I can just picture all the noise and people just swirling around you…can’t wait to see the pics!
