Here are a few pictures of Branson on day 5 …
and again, a few of my favorites… (Click on the first one to see it larger)

A few quick notes:
1) my full photography portfolio was recently updated over at the f8fotos.com site.
2) Branson photos are shown below (and linked again at left)
3) I recently found a great site if you love photography: photocritic.org, with excellent critiques, reviews, and how-to’s… I’ve become a daily reader, you should check it out. (And thanks to Haje for the 300 article pick-up as well)
4) and finally, look for major content changes on The Calendar Factory website in the next month or so.
Here are a few pictures of baby Branson’s first hour outside the womb:
and a few of my favorites.

He’s healthy and peaceful. They had the neonatal intensive care nurses in for a bit because they were worried about his tough birth (something like 40 labor hours!!) … but they said he’s fine, and he’ll probably be sent home with mom.
Branson finally decided he’s ready, and arrived at 7:23 pm on 13 March 2007. I, being the “5th wheel,” am waiting in the lobby, but I heard him crying over the cell-phone call from my Aunt. Apparently Branson wasn’t breathing when he came out, so they whisked him away and got him going real fast, but everything is fine … he was crying pretty loudly from what I could hear.
Pix are coming within the hour … by 10pm PST … so stay tuned.
While I’m waiting in the hospital lobby, I wanted to see if anyone out there had seen any good techniques for recreating the effects in the movie “300.”
The directors talked about the post-processing of the film as “The Crush,” where they crushed the blacks down to increase contrast, then enhanced the saturation. But it’s clearly more than that … they’ve also color-graded the film, lit it specially, etc. Here’s a good sample:
I was inspired to create something similar. So I played around in photoshop Read the rest of this entry »
BabyWatch2007: My sister started her “serious” contractions about 36 hours ago …. and has been in the hospital since 8pm last night … but we’re still waiting! It should be anytime now, but then again, I’ve heard that before…
Wow, this kid doesn’t want to give up his nice comfortable womb just yet … looks like it’s going to be possible 10 more hours or so … but who knows. It could be 1 hour or 15, that’s just the nurse’s current best guess…

Well, as the picture makes abundantly clear, I’m an Uncle!! Hmm … well, okay … I -will- be an uncle, sometime after I finish the last of the bottle of Veuve here, wait a few hours, then head over to see my sister, who’s now at the hospital in labor as we speak. (Since we’re not actually speaking, it’s about 9:30 pm PST on Monday Mar 12th, 2007.)
Anyway, I’m hoping for the safe, healthy birth of nephew Branson in the next few hours. I’ll update you as I know more. For Tiffany’s pregnancy pictures, click here.
At long last I’ve comprehensively overhauled the f8 portfolio. You can see it over at www.f8fotos.com. Let me know what you think … good and what you’d do differently! Thanks.
