Shakira & Elvis

Every once in a while you have an experience or two that you know you’re remember forever.

Last night I saw Shakira perform live at the Pond in Anaheim. She is so full of energy, unbelievably talented and sexy. I go to concerts whenever possible, and I’m always looking for this inexplicable adrenalin-high … it happens when a great musician gets a great crowd … and then there’s a feedback loop. The crowd loves the performace; the performer gets even more excited; the crowd goes even more crazy; they feed on each other, and there’s this amazing “buzz” of energy.

That’s how last night was. Slow songs were followed by intense songs. Shakira would belly dance and tease the audience in one moment… then the next she was in the most beautiful red gown with flowing “wings” underneath her arms … that at the end of the song came out maybe 5-feet past her arms as she twirled and danced with the light flowing around her, looking like a beautiful live flower. Anyway … enough about that … it was fantastic. (As was the new sushi place that I found in Tustin … cool!)

Tonight was it’s own unusual — but cool — experience. Through the magic of technology, my mom and I were at Tiffany’s wedding all together … even though my mom was in Huntington Beach, I was in Irvine, and Tiffany was in Las Vegas. Let me back up for a moment, though. Yes … Tiffany got married to her boyfriend of 1-1/2 (I think?) years. She wore a white with black polka-dots, 1950’s style dress with a 4-inch black belt. It was about a 10 minute ceremony, held at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel www.vivalasvegas.com.

My mom called me … we talked on our cell phones as we watched the wedding via live broadcast over the internet. Technology is weird…

Anyway … I’m happy for my sister. Yes … she makes some ‘unconventional’ choices sometimes. But that’s just who she is. And that’s one of the things I love about her.
