Marrakech Express

April 5th, 2006

Just woke up … on a train to Marrakech. It’s about 8:30 am or so,
and the country side is streaming by. It’s surprisingly green … I
thought it would be dessert, but it’s fields. We’ve seen a couple of
shepherd with their flocks and some horse-drawn carts going down the
road, as well as tons of cars and modern (well, maybe 60’s modern)
looking buildings.

Well, I think I’m behind by a couple of days in updating what we’ve
been doing … Read the rest of this entry »

*&%&# internet

April 4th, 2006

(Tuesday April 4, Sevilla, Spain) So I’m sitting here at an internet
cafe, 18 of the 20 minutes I had to update the blog, send pix, check
email … and still no stupid internet connection. Today we’re on our
way to Tangier, via foot, taxi, bus, ferry, taxi, and then overnight
train to Marrakech. You won’t probably hear from me for a while … and
you actually won’t even get this for a while. No one seems to be able
to call my phone, either … that, or I’m not popular, because my
Spanish phone number hasn’t received any calls. Being out of touch
sucks. Oh well … I guess you’ll get this in a few days.

More new pix!

Sunday AM, Granda a Sevilla

April 2nd, 2006

I think it’s now Sunday morning. We’re clickety-clakkety rolling
through the Andalusian heartland, surrounded by rolling hills, billions
of yellow wildflowers, and olive tree after olive tree … oh, and mom
– you’d love the old, decrepit farm houses everywhere, too.

Granada PM - Spanish Wedding Crashers

April 2nd, 2006

So, as I type this we’re going 153 km/h on the train … cool. But
back to yesterday …. So Mark M and I ended up at this crazy little
cafe for lunch. It was all locals … the cutest kids playing with each
other, big families eating a 2-3 hour Saturday lunch from 3 to 5 pm.
There were screaming kids, some guy playing accordion, and … oddly
enough, everyone did shots (!) after their meal. Read the rest of this entry »
